Primary Therapy Modalities

Depending on your needs, I will either incorporate elements from a combination of these modalities or focus on 1-2 of these modalities in particular.

No matter which approach I will use with you in our work together, I will walk you through what modality/modalities I’m thinking of using, the pros and cons, and collaborate with you to make sure it will meet your needs to achieve your goals.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT focuses on expanding your ability to accept and be flexible when distressing thoughts and feelings come your way. One of the important components of ACT is that we want to build up these skills so you are more able to commit to living a life that’s more in-step with what’s most important to you.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on helping identify your unique experience and pattern of the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and developing new ways to respond to specific situations.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-focused therapy focuses on collaborating with you to achieve your goals by developing practical & sustainable solutions. Sometimes we just need to have someone help us prioritize what needs to happen and how something needs to get done.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy focuses on revisiting the stories we tell about ourselves and our experiences and finding a way to reframe and retell our story differently. We incorporate your values, cultural/historical context, and your interpersonal relationships to thread your new story.

Mindfulness & Movement

Mindfulness doesn’t mean you have to meditate. These approaches help you connect with your emotions and your body in the here & now, which might actually include moving your body around to ground you.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy acknowledges and honors your unique life experiences and supports you in creating a deeper meaning in how you want to live your life.
